Site Manager Also Army Reservist

As the site manager of Veterans Manor, I have seen firsthand the difference it has made in peoples’ lives.  It is so important for these veterans to have a place they are proud to call ‘home’ and where they are proud to bring their family and friends. The supportive environment, public transportation right outside their front door, on-site counseling and convenient access to the VA sparks a sense of independence.

I enjoy being able to help people and every day I come to work here, I feel like I make a difference.

Broadband Internet for Every Resident

Veterans Manor offers broadband internet connection for every resident, included in the rent.

“As residents moved in we were surprised about how strong the desire was to be Internet connected,” said Joe Thomae, Veterans Manor Project Manager. “For approximately one-third of the new residents, their first action upon receiving their keys was to plug in and turn on their computers to verify Internet access. They didn’t hang up clothes, put food away or arrange furniture, they verified their Internet connection.

“We learned that often the barrier for a low income person is not having a computer, training or computer knowledge… it is the Internet connection.”
