One in five homeless people in Milwaukee is a veteran, and that number is unacceptable. Veteran’s Manor is far more than a building. It is a combination of programs and services that meet the specific needs of this group of veterans. And, most importantly, it’s a home- a permanent home- for dozens of people who have served our country in uniform.
I was pleased to be a part of helping set the building blocks for Veterans Manor as County Executive. I’m even more pleased now as Governor to see it open and to work with advocates for veterans all across Southeastern Wisconsin to ensure we serve those who served our country.
For over 200 years millions of Americans have answered the call to duty. The freedom that we as Americans demand does not come free, and it is our duty, as American citizens, to honor their sacrifices and ensure they are properly cared for upon their return home. The entire City of Milwaukee can take pride in Veteran’s Manor.”
Veterans Manor has been the jewel of my tenure.
I’m a former Marine, so the opportunity to sit down and talk about a project that was geared toward veterans was personally rewarding. We at RBC felt compelled to make this transaction happen.
